Kota Kinabalu: Carlist.my brought its signature Drive event here during the weekend, with the hope of fulfilling the ongoing demand for off-road vehicles.

The Carlist.my Drive: Off-road Edition 2019 aimed to bring an enjoyable experience for visitors when they were looking for a new car.

State Youth and Sports Assistant Minister ArunarnsinTaib, who launched the inaugural event at the Likas Sports Complex parking lot on Saturday, congratulated the organiser for their achievements and efforts in making it the largest four-wheel-drive (4WD) exhibition in Sabah.

“This event is a great initiative to get young people interested in rugged motor sports,” said Arunarnsin.

He also said the Ministry was looking forward to more such events in the future.

Car brands were there with great offers, promotions and discounts throughout the two-day event.

There were various cars on display at the venue for on-the-spot test drives.

Visitors were also able to experience different driving conditions with the vehicles as they went through an off-road course, a special 4WD Defensive Driving course and a normal course on the tarmac road.

There were also a kid activity area, food trucks and a bazaar.

Carlist.my’s Chief Marketing Officer Jonathan Adams said they tried to get carnival atmosphere for everybody.

“It is one of the things we are trying to do as a company to bring the online world to the offline world where consumers can experience cars in a more real world environment rather than just going to the dealership looking at the car and test driving it.

“Going off-road and doing all things of driving, it is all here,” he said.

Jonathan added that they were very excited with the participation from the car brands, car clubs, affiliated partners and, more importantly, the visitors who made the maiden Drive: Off-Road Edition event a success.

“We will definitely bring more exciting events over to East Malaysia in the future,” he said.

Also present was Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association Chairman Faez Nordin.
