More places to study nursing free

Those of you who are thinking of choosing careers in nursing can explore these options. Nursing is open to both males and females. Note that you can study nursing for free at these colleges provided you meet the admission requirements. It is good to know what the requirements are.
In March 14 article we looked at nursing colleges under the Ministry of Health. We also looked at (1) Assunta School of Nursing (Kuala Lumpur), (2) Adventist College of Nursing (Penang) and (3) Lam Wah Ee School of Nursing (Penang). This week let us explore a few more nursing schools that offer free nursing programmes in Malaysia.
4) Tung Shin Academy of Nursing

The Tung Shin Academy of Nursing based I Kuala Lumpur offers full sponsorship to qualified students. In addition upon completion of nursing course, jobs are guaranteed. You will be employed by Tung Shin Hospital.
General Requirements:
- Age 18-26 years old l Malaysian citizen l Minimum SPM qualification with mandatory credits in Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science or General Science and any other 2 subjects l Credit in English is preferred

5) Sunway University

Sunway Medical Centre is part of Sunway University and it offers exclusive sponsorship for students to pursue Nursing studies at Sunway University.
Requirements:
l Malaysian citizen between 18-25 years old l SPM/ O level with Minimum 5 credits in BM, BI, Science, Math & one other subject (Diploma) l Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with Minimum 5 Grade B AND Pass SPM with credits in BM, Math, and Science l Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Specific Requirements: Applicants are required to attend an interview session and pass a medical check-up.
Full sponsorship
In partnership with Sunway Medical Center, full sponsorship is provided with 100 per cent coverage of tuition fees and living expenses until graduation. By the time you graduate, you’ll have the hands-on experience you need to begin a rewarding career in the health care industry.
Upon completion of your trainng, a mandatory 5 years of Service is required with Sunway Medical Center. Sunway’s Diploma in Nursing combines both conventional and state-of-the-art technological applications.
The programme is catered for those with a passion for nurturing the well-being of others. Students will be awarded with Sunway University and the Nursing Board of Malaysia Registration Certificates upon successfully passing the licensure examination.

Hospital Fatimah in Ipoh also offers sponsorship programme for nursing. Please refer to their website for details. They also offer sponsorship for Assistant nursing programme. Upon completion you will be guaranteed a job with the hospital.

RSD Hospital Sponsorship offers financial assistance to students who are financially constrained but are keen to pursue Nursing studies at Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare College.
Eligibility and Minimum Requirement
Applicant for this programme must fulfil the following requirements:
1. Malaysian.
2. Age 25 years or below.
3. Credits in BM, English, Mathematics, Science and one other subject for SPM examination 4. Higher grades and language proficiency will be an advantage.
Value of Sponsorship
This sponsorship worth RM80,000 covers Registration Fees, Tuition Fees, Accommodation, living and book allowance. You need not take a PTPTN loan or use your own funds to study.
Service Bond Period
On completion of studies, scholars will be required to serve at one of the following Ramsay Sime Darby Hospitals in Malaysia for five (5) years :

Intakes for the Diploma in Nursing programme is in May, July and September. “Pantai College of Nursing & Health Science was established in 1993 to train nurses for the Pantai Group of Hospitals. Employment Opportunities

The KPJ group runs one of the largest hospital chains in Malaysia. Their hospitals are found all over the country. To cater to the needs of their hospitals they run their own nursing colleges. They are located in Nilai, Penang and Johor. Upon completion students are offered guaranteed jobs in their own hospitals.

Career tips:
Hope those who are aspiring to enter the nursing field can be relieved. You do not need money to study, but just good results (only 5 credits at SPM).
No PTPTN loan, no withdrawal from EPF and no using of your family’s lifetime savings. The best news is, upon completion of your training, you will be offered a guaranteed job. That means you don’t have to look for a job. The job will be waiting for you.
There are many more nursing colleges which are offering free education for qualified students. Not all nursing colleges publicise their sponsorships. It would be good to browse through the webpage of hospitals in your vicinity.
