Kuala Lumpur: The Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (Adamas) has confirmed that 475 samples of the national athletes heading to the 28th SEA Games in Singapore were found negative. Adamas unit head, Nishel Kumar also refuted a news report (Harian Metro) Friday that three athletes may not be allowed to be in action in Singapore should they be found positive for using banned substances.

"The report that three athletes have been banned is incorrect. I only said there were athletes who were still using supplements not recommended and ordered them to stop using them.

"When asked on what will happen if the athletes were found positive in their doping tests...I was informed Adamas will prevent them from participating regardless of their status," he said in a statement, Friday.

Harian Metro Friday reported that if the three athletes were found positive in their doping tests, they would automatically be banned irrespective of whether they are elite or bright medal prospect athletes.

The decision on whether the three athletes were found using banned substances will be known in a few days and their urine samples have been sent to a laboratory in India. – Bernama
