All-Labuan dart teams grab tournament titles

Ranau: It was an all-Labuan affair when Team All 4 One's Apache Blues and Apache Rock finished on a high note as champion and first runners-up respectively in the Damai Eco Ranch Double Dart Open Tournament 2015, on Sunday.Apache Blues' pairing of Ghazali and Albert Patrick defeated their counterpart from Labuan, Sangga and Joy of Apache Rock in the final match held at the Damai Eco Ranch mini hall here, to take home RM4,000 in cash prize and trophies."I am very happy with our team's performance and surely it is not an easy journey to the final as there were a lot of strong pairings here.ADVERTISEMENT "It is a surprise to see our teammates from Labuan also in the finals because it was unexpected," said Apache Blues representative, Albert.He added that the next tournament they will play is the Tiger Open Tournament on home soil starting from June 5 to 7."As this tournament will be held at Team All 4 One's home ground, we would like to extend special invitations to all Sabahan darters to join this annual dart event in Labuan," he said.He congratulated the tournament's organiser and Damai Eco Ranch for such a great organization and beautiful venue provided to the participants by the committees and staff.ADVERTISEMENT Second placed Apache Rock settled for RM2,000 in cash and trophies while joint third and fourth went to KMDT from Kota Marudu and Ranau's RCC, each team took home RM1,000 in cash prize and trophies.Completing the Top 8 standings as well winning RM200 and trophies each were Izing from Papar, SNS Darters of Sipitang, DDC Papar and D'Mangga Darters from Keningau.

In the tournament's Second Chance category, host, Damai A bagged the title and RM1,000 with trophy by comprehensively beating Keningau's Soccerdart Tampak PJ, who had to settle for second place and RM500 with trophies.The category's joint third and fourth went to Nabalu CO and Sky Blue of Penampang, each winning RM250 and trophies.Meantime, in the Third Chance class, DDT of Tamparuli finishes as champion as well as cashing in RM500 and trophies while second place went to PRIMA of Kota Kinabalu, winning RM250 and trophies.Female darter, Pipa runaway as the Ladies Singles category champion after defeating Emilyn in the finals while joint third and fourth went to Dira Jr and Ally.The tournament's Organising Chairman, Ismaili Ismail said that he was pleased with the turnout of participants to the event."It is always pleasing to see many darters from Labuan, Kota Marudu, Sandakan, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, Tamparuli, Tuaran, Papar, Sipitang, Keningau and most of all Ranau, came to support this tournament.The tournament will be sanctioned by Malaysian Dart Corporation (MDC) and is the first tournament for the points ranking for the 2015/2016 season.Its Co-Founder, Dominic Andrew was satisfied with the number of participations and the turnout of new dart faces."It was inspiring to see 65 teams from across Sabah came and join the tournament to show their support to the sport."More surprisingly was the number of new faces that participated and this is a good news for the development of dart in the State.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
