Five held over abduction of teen in JB

Johor: The police have detained five people in connection with abducting and robbing a teenager at a house in Taman Daya here Tuesday.Johor Baharu South police chief, ACP Sulaiman Salleh said the suspects were picked up about an hour after the 19-year-old victim, whose hands and legs were tied up, freed himself about 12.30pm, and escaped from his captors.

Following the victim's police report, the suspects aged between 17 and 31 were picked up, he said in a statement here Wednesday.

He said the victim was found to have sustained bruises on the face, swollen right eye and aches on the body.

Sulaiman said the suspects had robbed the teenage victim of RM470, a car and watch worth a total of about RM15,900.

On May 25, four people abducted the victim from the Taman Sri Stulang flat unit and held him captive at the house in Taman Daya.

Sulaiman said the victim was also beaten up by the alleged abductors who were armed with knuckle-dusters, iron rods and baseball bat.

The victim was not given food while in captivity, he added. – Bernama
