Traditional sport events at KDCA

Kota Kinabalu: Public are urged to support the traditional sport events during the state-level Ka'amatan celebration at the KDCA building this weekend.Sabah Sports Board Chairman Datuk Louis Rampas, who is also the advisor for the organising committee, made the call on Thursday."It is going to be a very exciting event and the public should come in big numbers and enjoy the excitement, especially the tug-of-war and arm wrestling which are always the crowd's favourite.ADVERTISEMENT "Our very own Asian champion Joffey Jolly who won the lightweight Under 85kg category at the inaugural Arnold Classic Arm Wrestling Cup in Melbourne recently may also make an appearance," he said.Eleven events will be held at the main KDCA traditional centre during the two-day celebration and apart from armwrestling and tug of war, the other events are Rampanau (bamboo stilt), Momolisitik (slingshot), Mamagandal (padi lifting), Tumutu (padi pounding), Mangapui (fire lighting), Manandus (javelin) and Monungkava Kalabau (buffalo roping).Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The games, free of charge, are open to all Malaysian above 18 years of age.Meanwhile, Louis received sponsorship from Ararat Sport and Souvenir as well as Number One Sport and Souvenir for the supply of attire for the officials on duty during the event.
