Young inventors do Sabah proud

Kota Kinabalu: Several young inventors have made the State proud at the 2015 Malaysian Young Inventors Competition and Asian Young Inventors Exhibition during the 26th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) last Sunday.Students from SMK Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu, SM Sains Sabah and SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin Penampang brought home one gold, one silver and three bronze medal as well as a Top 5 Best Invention Award during the exhibition at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre held on May 21-23.Elsie Marrianne Vouldred, Ainelly Ajuin and Waldo Michael of SMK Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu won the only gold medal for the Sabah contingent including the Top 5 Award for their "Touch Sensor Switch" invention.

One of the students said they were able to achieve such feat with the guidance given by their teachers, Nurul Hafiza Pauzi and Hyairida Joumi.The silver medal was contributed by SM Science Sabah's trio of Edrus Mohamed, Mohd Azwad Jakirin and Shona Muthuraman for their discovery, "Lutjanus Erythropterus as Sunscreen" assisted by their Invention Teacher, Zurin Hamzah.SMK Bandaraya added a bronze medal through Mohd Safian Sapri, Jonell Jonathan and Nick Rolland Sulim with their invention, "Lifolius" guided by teachers, Nadia Richard and KH Zurizal Jaman.The invention of "LED Pen" by Cindy Benjamin, Syilendra Nurul Ain and Masita Rusikin assisted by teacher, Kalsum Sadina Othman, clinched a bronze medal for SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin Penampang.
