M-bike event can be turned into major tourism event: Masidi

Kota Kinabalu: The Longest Distance Travelled on Borneo Roads using off road motorcycles has potential to be turned into a major tourism event for the whole of Borneo.Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said apart from that the initiative could foster relationship among the populations of Borneo namely Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia."I think this event can be developed into a major tourism thing event. At the moment, each country is only promoting tourism in their own country," he said, adding that he believed it would be better for Borneo to be promoted as a whole.ADVERTISEMENT Masidi said he welcomed the initiative by The Penampang Enduro Dirt Bikers Club (Penduro) to traverse the Borneo roads for 16 days beginning from here to Brunei Darussalam and Kuching, Sarawak before heading to Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Tarakan and returning to Sabah through Tawau.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The record attempt would culminate in Simpang Mengayau, Kudat, the northern tip of Borneo Island.Masidi together with Indonesian Consul General, Akhmad DH. Irfan and Penampang Barisan Nasional (BN) Chief, Datuk Donald Mojuntin flagged off the Penduro team at Kinabalu Golf Club in Tanjung Aru on Tuesday.
