Frankie, Jerry clinch double dart title

Keningau: Penampang Darters' duo of Frankie Binsos and Jerry Lojitan seized the 4th series Double Dart Challenge 2015 title held at Fristina D'Mangga Café in Kg Nuntunan Apin-Apin near here on Sunday.The experienced veteran darters defeated the pairing of Cliff Richard and MacDonald Tonduba in the Winner Pool final tie to snatch away the main prize of RM2,500 cash with trophy and medals.

The PDC Zoom pair had to settle for second, taking home RM1,200 with medals while joint third for the Winner Pool category were Team KMDT and the pairing of Ken and Tanis, who each won RM600 in cash with medals.

Completing the Winner Pool top eight standing and winning RM50 of consolation prize are Team KMDT MR, Mayers Darters, Borneo Empire and Soccerdart Tampak AJ.

In the Second Division category, the pairing of Rooney and Nold came on top in the final match, straight away winning RM800 cash with medals.

They defeated the duo of Sangga and Walter who finished second cashing away with RM400 plus medals while joint third for the category were the pairings of Dom and Undu as well as David and Larry where they won RM200 with medals each.

Nadirah championed the Ladies Singles category after her final match against Tia, where the latter took home the first prize of RM500 and medal while Tia settling in for second with RM250 cash and medal.

Emily and Kui Fong completed the top four standing for the category where each of them winning RM100 with medals.

The tournament was sanctioned by the Malaysia Darts Corporation (MDC) where it was among the tourney that allocates points for the MDC darters' point ranking for the 2015/2016 series.

MDC Co-Founder, Dominic Andrew was pleased with the tournament's progress as it went as smooth as possible during the two days period.

"I would like to congratulate the organisers especially Tournament Director, Ukil Majanil for his hard work and the crews for the fantastic hospitality while not forgetting all the deserved winners.

"A total of 59 teams (including the Second Division category) and several more from the Ladies Singles participated in the tournament which was overwhelming for any successful tournament. A big thank you to all and hope to see you in the next tournament," he said.

Ukil also was delighted with the turnout of participants including those who came from far to join in the tourney in Keningau and showed their support.

Meanwhile, Sabah Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Affairs Department Director, Severinus Tukah officiated the prize presentation ceremony.

According to him, with the support shown by local darters during the tournament, he plans to organise the Keningau Open Darts Championship next year together with Fristina D'Mangga Café, where an expected RM15,000 cash prize will be award to the champion.

There were a few other activities organised during the weekend including lucky draws and charity karaoke session, where they were able to raise funds to be donated to the Mount Kinabalu Earthquake Relieve Fund.
