10 Beluran mosques upgraded

Beluran: A total of ten mosques here have been upgraded to provide a more comfortable atmosphere for prayer and religious activities. Beluran MP Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the upgrading work was in line with the commitment and attention by the government in preparing comfortable facilities to everyone regardless of religion in the State, adding that a total of RM250,000 was allocated for the works. The mosques are namely in Kg. Bawang, Tanjung Nipis, Bakong-Bakong, Tagas-Tagas, Terusan Sugut, Sungai Nafas, Ulu Sapi, Sungai Nangka, Kolapis Darat and Jambongan. ADVERTISEMENT Kiandee said this after attending a presentation of donation by the Beluran parliamentary office to surau and mosques in Kg. Kolapis here on Sunday. Also present was Beluran Umno Youth Chief Samad Jambri. The programme is an annual donation effort held in conjunction with the fasting month to a total of 60 surau and mosques in the district. On that note, Kiandee who is Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker said, government efforts towards development in the interiors should continue to receive support from the people. ADVERTISEMENT "We have a Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) who listens to the people's plight including those in the interiors and numerous programmes are done based on the people's needs because the Prime Minister is also aware of the people's needs," he said. He said many allocations focused on the development of the interiors as stated in the 11th Malaysia Plan.

"This is also in line with the government's efforts towards being a developed nation within five years," he added. He said the government will continue to assist the people particularly those in the poor category living in the interiors, to enhance the social and economy level through various programmes identified by the government.
