'Bubur Lambuk' to be annual event

Labuan: The Labuan Volunteer Team's (LVT) 'Bubur Lambuk' Distribution Programme will become an annual affair following the initial distribution of 450 packets of 'bubur lambuk' in Labuan Hospital here, Sunday.Vice President Mohammad Zaidin Zainuddin said the NGO which was registered in March, aims to provide assistance to those in need and to carry out welfare programmes for the Labuan community and the distribution of 'bubur lambuk' is seen as a 'sedekah' (giving of alms) during Ramadan."We have distributed 150 packets of 'bubur lambuk' to hospital staff while the other 300 were for fire victims of Kampung Saguking. The 'bubur lambuk' was cooked by members of LVT from 9am to 5pm," he said.

LVT President Mickey Lee Tai Heng said the NGO has 40 members, mostly youths and urged more people in Labuan to join LVT in carrying out its charity and welfare activities."Our motto is 'Charity As a Life Philosophy'.
