Kota Kinabalu: Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Siringan Gubat hoped the allocation to repair the Ranau district hospital damaged by the June 5 earthquake will be released soon. "Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam had recently paid a visit to Ranau and we hope that the allocation to repair the hospital will be channelled immediately.

"For now, the allocations to repair the affected schools (SMK Agama Ranau and SMK Ranau), district mosque as well as the police station have been received and repair works have already started," he said, adding that all promises to offer allocations will be kept. The Prime Minister had also announced an allocation of RM10 million to repair all damaged facilities at Mount Kinabalu," he said, adding that the State government had received financial assistance from other states such as Johor and Sarawak.

According to him, the district mosque cannot be used at the moment and the Deputy Prime Minister had announced an allocation of RM8 million to be given for the building of a new district mosque.

Siringan said this when officiating at the presentation of certificate to trainees under the Human Resource Department course at Promenade Hotel, here, Tuesday.

He also thanked the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Federal ministers, leaders and non-government organisations (NGO) who had offered their assistance to the victims and their family members as well as went down the ground to visit the affected areas in Ranau.

"There have been lots of assistance received through the State and District Natural Disaster Committees in Ranau, Kota Belud and Tuaran that were affected badly by the earthquake," he said.
