Kota Kinabalu: Sabah National Registration Department Director Dato Ismail Ahmad brushed aside rumours that Rohingya and Bangladeshi refugees are being issued identification documents with Sabah addresses. "No foreigner can get citizenship by operation of law," he said, when contacted, Tuesday, over a claim to that effect in social media.The post showed the MyKad of a person named Said Bashar Bin Shah Zardar whose address stated that he was residing in Jalan Labuk, Sandakan.

It was accompanied by a comment that even foreigners can get the MyKad.

Ismail said inspections through the system showed that the MyKad shown on the Facebook post was genuine and that it was issued by the National Registration Department.
