Fatin, Anthony make Sabah proud

Kota Kinabalu: Archer Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh who recently won three SEA Games gold medals and Anthony C. Linggian made the State proud with the former selected to be the flag-bearer for the Malaysia Contingent in the opening ceremony of the 28th World Universiade Games 2015 to be held in the city of Gwangju, Korea from July 3- 14 while the latter created history as he became the first Sabahan appointed as Chief Referee for Badminton.Anthony is the only BWF accredited Referee in Malaysia and had served as Deputy Referee in the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade Games as well as the World Championships 2012 also held in Gwangju, Korea.Fellow Sabahan and ex-BAM player Vountus Indra Mawan Saniru will be participating in the Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles in the Badminton event where the team events will commence on July 4-8 and Individual events on July 10.ADVERTISEMENT The Universiade Games is an international multi-sports event for university students-athletics held every two years and second only to the Olympic Games.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

20 types of sports are involved namely Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics, Basketball, Diving, Fencing, Football, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo, Archery, Badminton, Golf, Handball, Rowing, Shooting Sport and Tae Kwon Do for all Men and Women. The only Men's event is Basketball whereas Rhythmic Gymnastics is for Women only.The game was last held in Kazan, Russia in 2013.
