Tambunan: The Registrar of Societies (ROS) is urged to look into the matter surrounding Tambunan Golf Club (TNGC) regarding the termination of 238 members before its Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on July 4.The ROS will ensure there are no irregularities in the running and the financial management of the club as none of the 238 terminated members have violated any rules and are not at fault. It is learnt that the termination of the members may be related to nullification of the recent BGM held on Dec 6 last year by the Registrar of Societies.

During the last BGM, concerned members had been vocal about various issues in the running of the club and suspected irregularities in the financial management. The 238 members applied for their membership since 2002 and paid between RM1,500 to RM2,500 for the membership. Accepted as full members, they participated in the Club's General Meetings, passed resolutions and participated in elections among other things.

Now with the forthcoming BGM on Saturday, their rights to vote is wiped out. Appeal to withdraw the Mass Termination Notice, posted on the TNGC Notice Board by a group of affected members was not entertained.

Having been accepted as full members where they paid the monthly fees, participated in Golf Tournaments organised by the Club, attended General Meetings, voted for resolutions to be passed and participated in the elections of Office Bearers of TNGC, they have the legitimate expectation as members of TNGC endowed with rights to exercise their legitimate rights as full members of TNGC and to attend as well vote in the forthcoming BGM.

None of the 238 members were issued with warning letters for misconduct nor default for non-payment of monthly fees as required by the Constitution.

The affected members are left with no choice but to opt for legal action to protect not only their rights as members but also the club as it appears there are attempts to maintain the status quo and current state of affairs.
