Kota Kinabalu: The contract of service for security guards and cleaners in government schools in Sabah has been extended for two months from July 1 to Aug 30. Sabah Education Department Director Datuk Jame Alip said the delay in giving the contract extension for the companies involved was due to the information updating process as instructed by the Sabah branch of Malaysian Treasury. Jame said the 60-day contract extension for all companies involved had been approved and supported by the Education Ministry of Malaysia.ADVERTISEMENT "This is because the Sabah Education Department is only managing the tender and technical aspects," he said, Sunday. Jame said this in response to a recent media report on the delay in the extension of contract for security guards and cleaning operators in government schools in Sabah, which expired on June 30. However, Jame said the decision to select new companies would be done by the Selection Committee appointed by the Malaysian Treasury.
