Kota Kinabalu: The toddler who was blown away by strong winds during a storm is recuperating in the Likas Women and Children's Hospital, here.Nurhasyikin Jainudin, aged 18 months, suffered a broken hip after being blown away by strong winds and landing in a rice field 150 metres away.

In the midnight incident at Kampung Dungang in Tuaran, Nurhasyikin was in a baby swing when strong winds ripped off a house roof and took her away. Her mother Nurhayba Nasip, 25, said she and her husband were awakened by the sound of winds.

"Seconds later the roof was blown away and I immediately grabbed the baby swing. The wind was too strong that I lost my grip," she said when met at the hospital.

Nurhayba said they were in their bedroom along with her baby girl and 5-year-old son Muhamad Jaein.

The family immediately alerted the neighbours and searched for the toddler.

Nurhasyikin was found 30 minutes later in the rice field near the house and was taken to Hospital Tuaran before being transferred to Likas.
