Man kills wife, slits his throat

Lahad Datu: A heated argument between a couple ended with the man trying to take his own life by slitting his throat after he killed his wife at the Perumahan Angkut, in Felda Sahabat 7, here, early Monday. District Police Chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said police rushed to the scene after being alerted by a plantation foreman at about 3.30am. "Preliminary investigations showed that the couple's 11-year-old son woke up at about 3am when he heard his parents embroiled in a heated argument and saw his father slapping his mother before stabbing her abdomen and slashing her neck," he said.

According to Hamzah, police who arrived at the scene found the man still alive and rushed him to the hospital in handcuffs. His 28-year-old wife, Nurmiati Jupri, however died. Hamzah said the team recovered a Samurai sword and a sickle believed used in the incident.
