Indonesian singer to promote Rungus culture

Kota Kinabalu: The on-going Magahau Festival will be made known internationally through a famous Indonesian singer, Cita Citata, who is widely known for her dangdut song entitled 'Sakitnya Tuh Disini'.Persatuan Momogun Rungus Sabah (Samora) organised the festival with the cooperation and support of the State Government as well as the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry from June 13 until July 27.

Samora President Datuk Jelani Hamdan said Cita Citata is the special guest for the Rungus main festival as she will publicise and promote Rungus culture to her fans through her social media network base.

"We deliberately invited Cita Citata, who is a phenomenal Indonesian singer, to be part of the main highlight of the Magahau Festival in Kudat, next Monday, which is a charity concert at Tun Mustapha hall from 7pm to 11pm.

"We are fully aware that engaging the famous Indonesian singer for the concert would be costly but we are considering this as a fast track move so that Rungus culture and its customs will be better known in Asia and globally.

According to Jelani, Cita Citata will also be meeting her fans at 1Borneo Hypermall at the ground floor from 3.30pm to 5.30pm this Sunday prior to her performance at the charity concert in Kudat on Monday.

He said the concert will also feature five Rungus singers from a local group known as 'Warga Seni & Artis Rungus' (WSAR) here and special appearance of 10 Gimpuhut (beauty pageants) who are contesting in the festival.

"Some proceeds from the charity concert will be distributed to victims of natural disaster including fire and flood victims in Kudat and to a charity fund of Samod Samora that has a team that focuses on assisting those in need of help," he said.

He said tickets for the charity concert can be obtained at the counter of the Tun Mustapha hall or during the Cita Citata meet the fans event this Sunday.
