Kuala Lumpur: Umno blog MyKMU.net has urged Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to quit his position if he is unable to be a loyal deputy and have confidence in Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) winning the general election. In a blog post critical of Muhyiddin following the his criticism of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), it said Muhyiddin should not have openly expressed his lack of confidence in BN winning polls due to the 1MDB fiasco.

Muhyiddin on Sunday said that BN might not win if the general election was held today, due to overwhelming negative perception created by issues relating to 1MDB, which is closely linked to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"I understand that the truth sometimes can be bitter, but there is a way to handle this matter," the blog said.

"We won't talk bad about our father to an outsider even if that's the truth. A captured army commando would not reveal his team's strategy even if that's the truth."

This is not the first time Muhyiddin has been critical of 1MDB. Previously, he had demanded stern action, and said that Najib ignored his advice to quit as the company's advisory board chairman.

"If you are not confident of us winning, if you can't give a good perception to us, if you can't be a loyal deputy, follow this advice," the blog said, attaching a video clip where Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said that an individual should quit if they do not like their boss.

"If you don't like your boss, you quit, not your boss," he said in the video.

MyKMU.net also alleged that a group of Umno Youth leaders are trying to turn the wing against Najib.

Citing an alleged WhatsApp conversation between several Umno Youth leaders, the blog said the group was part of a movement to influence other members to stop supporting the party president.

Umno vice Youth chief Khairul Azwan Harun refused to confirm or deny the posting.

He, however, said Umno Youth was now focused on ensuring the party's victory in the next general election.

He said the prime minister was aware of Umno Youth's aims and responsibilities and that attracting the support of young voters was a huge task.

"You read it and comment yourself. I can't be bothered to read the blog," Khairul Azwan said.

The blog said the group claimed it was not wrong for them to pretend to support Najib.

MyKMU.net's latest allegations comes just three months after it published a report claiming that several Umno Youth leaders were attempting to remove Najib or weaken his position.

Khairul said members could not keep silent and remain cowed when it comes to championing the interests of the people.

He said the coming Umno Youth division conference should be a platform for the party wing to discuss issues of importance to the people.

"For the young leaders, this is the best chance to voice out public issues without fear or favour," he said.

"The people are talking about the leadership, the economy, society and all aspects of life in this country," he said.

Khairul, who organised the controversial "Nothing to Hide" forum, said Umno Youth must stop discussing issues aimed at "sucking up" to leaders.

"We don't want the Malay delegates to only say nice, decent things and suck up."

Khairul also urged them not to be afraid of losing their posts, and told them to speak out against their top leaders.

"I'm introducing a new tagline: 'Nothing to Lose'. Young Malay leaders should not worry about losing their positions because they speak out, as that is a sign of struggle."

Khairul relinquished all his positions in Umno after the failure of the "Nothing to Hide" forum, which was supposed to be a dialogue between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and several NGOs on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (IMDB) issue.

The forum ended in chaos when the prime minister did not show up over "security reasons" while his biggest critic, former prime minister Dr Mahathir who took the stage, was stopped by police a few minutes into his speech.
