Keningau: Delayed projects in the district have got Liawan Assemblyman Datuk Sairin Karno demanding for answers from developers concerned. "I want to ask those concerned, when will the building construction project for the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) building start as the agreement was signed not long ago.

"Why are there delays in completing seven projects, including the building of the Keningau Native Court as well as additional stalls at the tamu ground, the two projects to build mosque in Ansip and Tulid, as well as the housing project in Kg. Bunang Sook," he asked.

Sairin said it would be convenient for the people once the UTC building construction is completed as it would be a one-stop centre.

He said this during a Raya Open House ceremony organised by the Umno Keningau here on Monday. The ceremony was attended by more than 5,000 visitors including community leaders.

When asked about the Umno crisis faced in the interiors, Sairin said Umno is united and there is no crisis.

"I will continue to support the Prime Minister and State ministers and I hope the people will also continue to support Barisan Nasional to ensure continuous development towards enhancing the people and the State's economy," he said.

On the crisis between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, Sairin said this matter should be ended and addressed internally for the good of the party and the government.

He said, what was important is for leaders in the country to sit together and to discuss how to improve the economy of the people and the country, particularly Sabah.

He also hoped Umno supporters and Barisan Nasional component parties will be united to further boost development of the people and the country.

"If we want to improve the economy, I think everyone is responsible, if there are those who propose for the prime minister to resign simply to satisfy certain quarters, then it does not bring any benefit," he said.

Meanwhile, a government spokesperson the UTC building construction site is where the food court is presently and that the contractor is building a temporary building to relocate the vendors before they can start construction.

On the delayed projects, particularly the Native Court building, the spokesperson said the project will be re-tendered. Efforts will also be made to ensure all the other projects are completed.

On another development, District Police Chief DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong who also attended the Raya Open House celebration said that the district recorded zero crime and accidents throughout the festive season making it the best record so far compared to previous years.

He thanked the people for the cooperation during the festive season and hoped such cooperation would continue.
