Over 70,000 register as new voters: EC

Putra Jaya: A total of 70,920 people have registered as new voters in the second quarter of this year, according to the Election Commission (EC). EC deputy secretary (operation) Datuk Noordin Che Ngah said the EC had also received 12, 171 applications for change of address and voting centre from existing voters within the same period.

He said the supplementary electoral roll for the second quarter of this year would be put on display for 14 days from Aug 4 at 947 locations nationwide, including EC offices, post offices, government buildings, land and district offices, district and municipal councils, as well as community halls.

"During the two-week display period, new voters who registered between April and June this year, and those who had applied for change of address or voting centres, are advised to check their data in the supplementary electoral roll," he said in a statement here Monday. – Bernama
