Kota Kinabalu: A Sabah-based Pakatan NGO Pro BN will be submitting an official police report against Chairman of the Edge Media Group Datuk Tong Kooi Ong and its Chief Executive Chief cum publisher Ho Kay Tat to the Royal Police of Thailand on July 28, for both to be included in their investigation on the former employee of PetroSaudi Xavier Andre Justo.Justo, a former head of IT at the London office of PetroSaudi which has a joint venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), was reported still under remand in Thailand pending possible charges of trying to blackmail his former employer and stealing information on 1MDB.

The NGO's Chairman Zulkarnain Mahdar said they will also enclose evidence of Tong and Ho's confessions who admitted dealing with Justo in their statements published in the print media and news portal, to facilitate investigation of the Thai police on Justo' case.

"We will also submitting copies of reports to PetroSaudi's management so that Tong and Ho's to be investigated by the Thai police on a possible existence of collaboration in regards to Justo's threat towards PetroSaudi including with several opposition politicians in Malaysia.

"We believe that Justo is not acting alone when threatening PetroSaudi as such deplorable act, is believed has been thoroughly planned by those who are experts in business and politic aspects especially involving 1MDB business deals," he said.

Zulkarnain said this to reporters after lodging a police report against Tong and Ho for admitting to meet and deal with Justo based on their media statements at the City Police station at Karamunsing here, on Sunday.

He said Tong had admitted in his Friday statement for misleading Justo about paying him for information on the 1MDB-PetroSaudi International joint ventures.

Tong was quoted as reported: "Yes, we misled him. But that was the only way to get hold of the evidence to expose how a small group of Malaysians and foreigners cheated the people of Malaysia of US$1.83 billion (RM6.97 million).

"…as for Justo's allegations that we told him we intended to tamper with the documents and that our objective was to bring down the Government, surely if we had such intentions we would not tell it to someone we were meeting for the first time.

"All the more so when we know he will be upset with us because we will eventually not pay him what he wants."

Zulkarnain said Tong and Ho should also be investigated by the Malaysian police for their malicious act in meetings with Justo and dealing with him to obtain information on a joint venture projects between 1MDB and PetroSaudi.

He said both should be remanded and probed under the Sedition Act 1948 and Defamation Act 1957 on a possible involvement in a plot of discrediting the government and bring down the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak.

Zulkarnain said the former Sarawak Tribune editor Lester Melanyi who released a YouTube 6.02 minute clip video linking the founder of news portal Sarawak Report Clare Rewcastle-Brown and several opposition politicians whom he (Melanyi) said falsifying documents connected to 1MDB, should be fully protected by the police.

He emphasised that Melanyi's safety may be at risk as he is considered to be a main witness that exposed a possible plot to topple the government and Najib that had been planned few years ago.

"Any reckless and unsubstantiated allegations and claims over 1MDB and on our Prime Minister have political motives. In fact the Opposition lawmaker Tony Pua and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Rafizi Ramli are among the Opposition leaders who are facing civil suits by the Najib for defaming the latter related on 1MDB.

"By right, the opposition should just wait for the outcome of the investigation being carried out by three independent bodies like the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that also has Opposition members in its panel, and the high–level special task force comprised of the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Federal Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Commissioner Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, before making haste judgment on the 1MDB and Najib," he said.
