Tenom: Another call has been made for the State Assembly Speaker post to be filled up by a KDM leader in the context of power sharing in the State.Sabah Mamagun Organisation Deputy President Dzulkifli Gunsika said any leader in the State who has a good understanding of the State Constitution knew that it had never been stated that the Speaker should only be appointed from among the Bumiputera Muslim leaders.

"This is the time for us to implement a really equal power-sharing system in the Barisan Nasional government. All BN leaders must also be frank and quickly realise about the imbalance of ethnic composition in the Government," he said.

Dzulkifli, who is also former private secretary to the Youth and Sports Ministry during the PBS government era, said grouses about inequality in power sharing would have never been raised if the system had really been implemented.

Several Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leaders had made similar calls following the resignation of Datuk Salleh Tun Said as Speaker following his appointment as the new Communications and Multimedia Minister last week.
