Wanita Umno consolidating its bloggers

Kota Kinabalu: To counter rising negative perception, the Wanita Umno Movement has been consolidating its bloggers, said Wanita Umno information chief Datuk Rosni Zahari.She said the movement has a Social Media Bureau which is responsible for strengthening its social media team to increase their effectiveness.

"We will defend (negative) criticism towards the party and the government through social media," she told reporters after opening the Sepanggar Wanita Umno division annual general meeting here, Sunday.

She said social media were filled with true and untrue news, thus urging all to be wise when judging what they read.

She also called those involved in the 'Jalinan Rakyat' programme to go down to the grassroots level to explain to the people of the perceptions in social media so that the people are not influenced by the propaganda of the opposition.

Rosni also urge the women to give priority to unity in the party as it was vital in maintaining the survival of the movement.

"What is crucial is the unity of the country. If not, there will be discord in the party and the opposition will take advantage and we cannot give them space to do so," she said.

Sepanggar Wanita Umno chief, who is also Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid urged women not for granted those closest to them, like their families and community.

Among the resolutions passed was supporting Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his decision to reshuffle the Federal Cabinet.

Other resolutions include calling for prices of goods in Sabah be the same as those in the Peninsula.

Another resolution called for principals and headmasters in Sabah to be appointed from Sabah instead from the Peninsula as there are many eligible teachers who are qualified and are more familiar with the culture in Sabah.

Following the meeting, the movement also held their Hari Raya Open House celebration.
