Tawau take 3-0 advantage in q-final

Kota Kinabalu: Tawau proved that they are the favourites to win this year's Chief Minister Cup Inter-District Football Championship after getting a head start quarter-final victory last weekend.The defending champions overwhelmed Ranau comfortably 3-0 in the first leg held at Tawau Sports Complex while another favourite, Sandakan also notched a 3-1 victory away to Kota Belud.

Kota Marudu squeezed through 2-1 past Beaufort in the other quarter-final matches while Tenom and Papar are all even at 1-1 going into the second leg. The second leg of the quarter-finals will be played on August 8 and 9 where the winners of the two-leg quarterfinals will make it into the semi-finals that has been slated for August 14.

The tournament, which is named after Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who is also the President of Sabah FA, is going into its third edition and offering the champions RM25,000 while the runners-up RM12,500, third place RM4,500 and fourth place RM3,500.
