Sarawak: More infrastructure projects will be built under the 11th Malaysia Plan here following the restructuring of development plans at the integrated port area.Sarawak Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, said the new infrastructure projects included an administrative centre for Tanjung Manis, housing projects, shipbuilding site, furniture cluster industry and additional roads.

"Therefore, I hope that adequate funding is channelled into the 11MP to implement these projects and boost Tanjung Manis as a major economic growth centre in Sarawak's central region," he said this at a ground-breaking ceremony of an palm oil storage facility here Monday.

Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem, officiated the ceremony.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Industrial Development and Minister of Public Utilities, said the new infrastructure projects could further optimise port operations managed by Tanjung Manis Integrated Port Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Heritage Capital Sdn Bhd.

"The new projects can enhance Tanjung Manis's port capacity from 60,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers to 230,000 TEUs per year.

"We are also aiming for at least RM300 million of investments for the Palm Oil Industrial Clusters in Tanjung Manis," he said. – Bernama
