BFSI industry posts 5pc growth y-o-y in online hiring

Kuala Lumpur: The banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industry posted a five per cent growth year-on-year (y-o-y) in online hiring, followed by the hospitality sector at three per cent and retail (one per cent).According to the Monster Employment Index (MEI) Malaysia, the BFSI industry remained unaffected, despite the negative growth across all industries.Monster.com managing director Sanjay Modi noted that Malaysia's manufacturing sector is currently seeing its weakest purchasing managers index readings due to poor economic conditions.

"This will prompt layoffs within companies and online hiring activities will continue to see poor growth in the coming quarter," he said in a statement.He added that service industry sectors and occupations are also witnessing dramatic declines in online hiring.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
