No sign of alleged Umno 'plotter' at the PM's residence
Kuala Lumpur: There was no sign of any visitors at the personal residence of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Jalan Duta on Sunday evening. The Prime Minister arrived at his Duta residence at about 7.50pm after opening the Gerik Umno division meeting.

The media were informed that no visitors were expected for the rest of the night.

They had also staked out at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said an Umno leader who is alleged to be plotting to topple the Government would meet Najib Sunday evening.

Ahmad Zahid said the individual had "come to his senses" and realised what he was planning to do was wrong.

"The information that I received is valid, not roadside information and this information I had received is from the person attending the meeting.

"If I don't raise up the matter from now, probably more Barisan Nasional (BN) Members of Parliament would have been bought to sign the 'Aku Janji'," he said when opening the Tampin Umno delegates meeting, here.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno Vice-President, said there was a plan to ask BN Members of Parliament to cross over to the opposition in signing the pledge or statutory declaration to topple the ruling government.

"I know the lawyer who prepared the document and I don't have to mention the name of the lawyer, (he is) not our lawyer.

"I just cannot reveal the name but the information and evil plan is true," he said.

Ahmad Zahid said Umno would never allow any attempt to topple the Government except through the general election.

He said they should "step over the (dead) bodies of the Umno members if they want to change the government through the back door".

He said Malaysia is a democratic country where the government is elected through an election, even though there are clauses where the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, on the advice of the Prime Minister, could dissolve Parliament.

"If statutory declarations are obtained from majority of the parliamentary members, the government in power will fall and a new government is formed.

"However, step over the bodies of Umno members (first) if they want to change the government through the back door. I will not let it happen," he added.

Ahmad Zahid, when opening the Umno Ampang delegates meeting on Saturday, exposed a plot by the opposition to topple the Malaysian government, with an Umno-cum-Barisan Nasional (BN) leader allegedly behind it.

He said the plan was to obtain statutory declarations from the opposition members of Parliament (MPs) and to pull in the support of BN lawmakers in toppling the government through the "back door".

Until Sunday, he declined to reveal the name of the Umno member involved.
