Kota Kinabalu: At least four of seven Sabah Members of Parliament (MPs) linked in a blog called "Suara Hati" to an alleged plot to topple the Government have denied any involvement.Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, Datuk Ewon Ebin and Datuk Marcus Mojigoh all said it was a very serious accusation. Two are from Sabah Umno and the rest from Upko.Bung, who is Kinabatangan MP expressed regret over the accusation and that he was not even aware until it was exposed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. I have never been a traitor or a betrayer to the party that I fought for," he said.Ahmad Zahid, when opening the Umno Ampang delegates meeting in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday, exposed a plot by the opposition to topple the Malaysian Government, with an Umno-cum-Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders allegedly behind it. He said the plan was to obtain statutory declarations from the opposition MPs and to pull in the support of BN lawmakers in toppling the Government through the "back door". Bung Moktar, who is also Umno Supreme Council member, said he was always vocal in expressing his views, but he had never compromised his dignity just because he disagreed with any of the party leaders. He said if there was any attempts to topple the BN government in the Dewan Rakyat, he would be the first to stand against it. ADVERTISEMENT "For me, this government is chosen by the people. If it were to be toppled, let it be done through general election and not through some street demonstrations or disgraceful methods," he added. Kudat MP Abdul Rahim refuted a social media report that linked him and 19 other MPs to a plot.

"The report is immoral, defamatory, preposterous and aimed at tarnishing the image of the members of Parliament, especially from Umno and Barisan Nasional," he said.Abdul Rahim said nobody came to see him about such a plot and in fact in the past two weeks, he did not meet anyone.He said since two weeks ago, he had been in his constituency for the 'Bersama Rakyat' (Together with the People) programme, besides attending to family matters."As a leader who has been in Umno for 24 years and holding various positions in the party and government, I am grateful and satisfied with that achievement."As I have said before, I am very thankful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for giving me the opportunity (to serve) in three ministries, namely the Foreign Ministry, Transport Ministry and Defence Ministry."Such an allegation is illogical and vicious," he said.The social media posting is titled, "The Usual Suspects: 20 Names of Parliamentarians in Plot to Topple Government?" United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) described as baseless, allegations that two of its MPs were involved. Acting President Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau said the accusation was akin to trying to belittle the party and its leaders' loyalty to the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership."Upko's loyalty to the BN leadership should not be questioned. This is totally baseless," said Madius who is Science, Technology and Innovation Minister.In fact, he said Datuk Marcus Mojigoh and Datuk Ewon Ebin, both vice presidents of Upko, had stressed that there was no truth in what was being spread on social media.Madius said Mojigoh have since lodged police reports.A fuming Mojigoh said he was appalled by the action of irresponsible people who had simply put up his picture as one of the suspects to topple the government."This is the work of mad individuals. I have lodged a police report in Karamunsing today (Monday) asking the matter to be investigated thoroughly," he said, adding he also called upon the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission to leave no stone unturned in finding out those behind the lies.He had just returned from Marshall Islands where he headed a Malaysian delegation to the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Union (APPU)."I want to make it clear that these are all lies aimed to create havoc in the country by ruining its image and chasing away investors to come to Malaysia. Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said he has directed the Multimedia and Communications Commission (MCMC) to investigate the blog."Such speculations have a specific motive and aimed at destroying the good name of the affected MPs. It is very irresponsible," he said.
