Cheating four over PPR units: Two women claim trial

Kota Kinabalu: Two women were on Thursday charged with cheating four people of RM5,600 over the purchase of People's Housing Programme project (PPR) units.Nurie Azzarina Noor Abdullah, 29, and Fairieza De Souza Mohd, 31, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus when the charges were read to them.On the first count, the duo allegedly cheated one Fendre Disuk, 35, of RM1,400 by making believe that they could manage the purchase of a house under PPR in Meruntum.

The offence allegedly took place at 5pm on June 4 this year at the Imago Shopping Mall, here.On the second to fourth counts, they are accused of cheating one Jastin Kiek, 29, his sister Juini Kiek, 28, and Imelda P. Eddy, 31, of RM1,400 each using the same ruse.The offence under Section 420 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between one and 10 years, and whipping and fine, on conviction.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The court fixed Sept 7, 15 and 23 for mention all of their cases and released them on a bail of RM2,000 with RM1,500 deposited in two local sureties each.

Counsel Ariel Dasan who stood in for counsel P J Perira represented Fairieza, while counsel Mohd Ari Nadzrah Abd Rahman defended Nurul. Inspector Isfandair Jasli appeared for the prosecution.
