Man fined for threat to cause harm

Kota Kinabalu: A local man who threatened to cause hurt to his friend was on Friday slapped with a RM25 fine or a week's jail.Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus ordered Mohd Aidan Fitri Jasni to pay the fine after he pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Mohd Aidan had threatened one Mohd Shazwan Sofian that he would harm him, at 5pm, on Aug 22 at a house in TamanKetiau, Putatan.

He committed the offence under Section 8(1)(e) of the Minor Offence Ordinance, which provides for a fine of RM25, on conviction.

The facts of the case stated that Mohd Aidan had threatened Mohd Shawzan who refused to give him a rented house key and a handphone.

In another case, a man claimed trial to possessing a knuckle-duster without a permit.

Azwan Kadir is accused of having the weapon at 6.40pm on July 12 by the roadside in Penampang.

The court set Sept 25 to hear the case and Azwan was ordered remanded further pending the date.

Meanwhile, two men were charged with having syabu, respectively.

Musbihin Saidin and Angel Wee Peng Teng are accused of possessing 5.06gm of syabu at different places in Inanam and Taman Bukit Setia, Sepanggar on Aug 25 and 26. The court set Sept 30 for mention and released them on a bail of RM3,000 in two local sureties each.

No plea was recorded from them as the chemist's reports on the drug are not ready yet. Inspector Insfandiar Jasli appeared for the prosecution.
