Keningau: Plans are being drawn up to upgrade the Senagang Tagal River area, here, to become a tourism attraction like the Luanti resort in Ranau.Senagang Tagal River Chairman, Mathius Daud, said the upgrading will be done in phases and the project will involve a huge cost.Once completed, the river will offer a recreational area, accommodation as well as a chance to swim with the fish to fill domestic and international tourists' demands.ADVERTISEMENT To a question, Mathius said, the decision to turn the river into a Tagal river in 2012 was not an easy move to accomplish in the initial stage as there were objections from various quarters, especially from the villagers themselves."But today, the villagers accepted the concept of Tagal and gave full support after four years of implementation," Mathius said, on Thursday.According to Mathius, the objective of turning the cleanest river in the Interior into a Tagal river is to ensure that the natural treasure is preserved."We also want this river to become a legacy for the next generation," he said.ADVERTISEMENT Meanwhile, hundreds of kilograms of fish are expected to be landed when the Senagang Tagal River is opened Friday by the Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Datuk Sairin Karno. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 2.30pm, Mathius said, adding that Senagang Tagal River is the fourth most active river in the State.
