PENSIANGAN/SOOK: Three village chiefs representing approximately 5,000 villagers, here, want the Government to strip Dr Mahathir of his Tunship that was given soon after he stepped down as Prime Minister. The village heads are Sosor Bin Aling from Kg Mempulut which has some 2,000 inhabitants, Simon Sinsuran from Kg Dalit Stesen representing about 20 villages with 3,000 residents and Lidy Bin Lunggiri from Kg Pohon Batu representing three villages that have about 500 people. The villages are located near the Sook -Nabawan highway from Mile 22 to Pohon Batu.ADVERTISEMENT Their reasoning was that Dr Mahathir was opposed to the Barisan Nasional government led by Datuk Seri Najib Razak to the extent of asking the people on the streets to rise up against the Government.Hence, they said, the title should be given to others more deserving."The title is meaningless if the person is involved with opposition parties to topple the government."In addition, they want the former PM to be investigated on several issues during his tenure as Prime Minister for 22 years, including the issuance of supposedly several hundred thousand ICs to foreigners in Sabah under "Projek Mahathir" as revealed in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) hearings.ADVERTISEMENT They claimed Dr Mahathir spent EPF and pilgrims' funds. "At that time he wanted to use the money to help companies involving his children in 1998 and after six months added extra in contribution.

"At that time, Finance Minister Tun Daim did not allow it and he was eventually stripped of his position. Former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was also against it."In addition, more projects were carried out ostensibly to boost the economy and lives of the Malays but how many Malays have benefitted? "Did the former PM not help his family and friends to get financial assistance from the BN Government? "Hundreds of millions were lost but no one put pressure on the former Prime Minister. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is now forced to take over the burden of government debt affecting the government," they said. The trio said the people, especially in the interior of Sabah, should not be influenced by Dr Mahathir. "He also cannot simply instruct the Prime Minister to step down. It may be a joke to people all over the world, if there are people who can get someone to step down. "The country has a legal and democratic system," they added. They said in the 1980s when the former Prime Minister was in power, roads were never repaired and electricity did not reach them. "Along the way, they were still using kerosene. Road conditions were extremely severe and there was hardly clean water to use. "The primary schools were still as in the days of the British. "However, the current Prime Minister had given them access to electricity and water supply is currently under installation." They said compared to the last 22 years with the last six years, Najib as the Prime Minister had helped them to get basic amenities like roads, schools and a clinic (under construction)."We therefore fully support the government led by Najib. He is one of the best leaders compared to Dr Mahathir. "Logs were felled at the time of Mahathir and our area was also handed over to the major companies and we did not get any results. "Therefore we ask people in the interior, especially in the Pensiangan in the areas of Kg Dalit, Pohon Batu and Kabulu and other villages, not to believe the accusations of Dr Mahathir."They said Dr Mahathir was now unhappy over fears his son will be removed as the KedahMenteri Besar."Many projects were proposed by Dr Mahathir but not implemented by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to this day and it caused Dr Mahathir to be unhappy," they said.Simon thanked Najib as he approved the construction of SMK Dalit which served about 30 villages. After building SMK Dalit, their children no longer need to go to Keningau to study at secondary schools. He hoped Najib would upgrade the clinic at the Dalit station.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Similarly, in Kabulu, they asked for a clinic for the good of the people in the area. All three villages located about 156km from Pohon Batu to Keningau have requested that the roads be upgraded for the benefit of the people in the vicinity of Ansip to Dalit and from Karamatoi to Pohon Batu.
