Robbery: Teen boy sent to reform school

Kota Kinabalu: A 17-year-old was sent to the Henry Gurney School by the Sessions Court on Friday for robbing a policeman's sister. Judge Azreena Aziz made the order after the boy pleaded guilty to robbing one Norsilah Ahmad Kifli of a car, a MyKad belonging to her brother one Sharul Nizam Ahmad Kifli, a police ID also belonging to Sharul and a driving licence for police vehicles.He committed the offence by using an iron road together with two other accused, Mohd Khairul Fadzly and Methodius Callixtus Joseph, who claimed trial to the charge, at 1.50am on Nov 20, 2014 by the roadside in Kg Pikat Bongawan, Papar.

The offence, under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.The boy was ordered placed at the correctional school until he reaches 21 years old.During the proceedings, the victim informed the court that she was traumatised by the incident and feared to go out at night.Meanwhile, the boy's mother asked for a lenient sentence and promised that she would monitor and guide her son to become a better person in future.

In tendering the facts of the case, Deputy Public Prosecutor Husna Abdul Halim informed the court that the incident happened when Norsilah stopped her car and rolled down her car window at the said place when an unknown boy waved his hand asking for help.Husna said the boy then suddenly pointed the iron rod at her and, at the same time, another two men appeared.

The men then asked her to surrender her belongings but Norsilah managed to get off from the car and hid in some bushes nearby.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

After several minutes, Norsilah came back only to find the trio had escaped with her car as well as all her belongings. The trio were arrested following a police report lodged by Norsilah.
