Business leaders bag NAfMA awards

Kuala Lumpur: Business leaders have bagged the prestigious National Award for Management Accounting (NAfMA) in various categories for excellence in management accounting and business performance.In a statement Friday, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar, presented the awards at a gala dinner here Thursday night. It said the 'Organisation of the Year' award went to Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd for excellence in corporate governance, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Dr Tan See Leng of IHH Healthcare Bhd clinched the 'Chief Executive Officer of the Year' award for his leadership skills, vision and direction which transformed the company's corporate performance.

Atul Chhaparwal of Guiness Anchor Bhd won the 'Chief Financial Officer of the Year' award for excellence in gaining significant value by implementing key management accounting techniques with his finance team. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Universiti Teknologi MARA's Associate Prof, Dr Sofian Shamsuddin, won the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) 'Lecturer of the Year' award and Petronas' Syuqry Sheikh Ismail won the 'CIMA Star of the Year' award. The main sponsor of NAfMA is Public Bank Bhd which has supported NAfMA since its inception in 2004. NAfMA is awarded by MIA and CIMA and is acknowledged by the Accountant General's Department of Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia, EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry. – Bernama
