Beluran: The State Education Department has been urged to address the electricity and water issues at SMK Pamol which are affecting about 400 residential students. Beluran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the absence of electricity and water had affected the teaching and learning process as well as the school's administration.

"The electricity problem at SMK Pamol is considered critical after the main generator broke down. They have to use a smaller generator with limited electricity.

"For the water supply, the school has to depend on IOI Company. However, it is limited and not sufficient," he said.

According to him, the problems must be solved immediately since SMK Pamol is a rural school attended by students from the area.

Meanwhile, SMK Pamol Parents and Teachers' Association committee member Ancharudin Kabulai said the school's main generator had broken down 10 days ago causing limited electricity supply and that they have had to borrow three sets of generators from other schools.

"We need five hours of electric supply for the school's administration work and three to four hours for the school's hostel at night," he said, adding that they would only receive water supply once every three days.

Ancha also said the school's principal had strived to overcome the problem by borrowing three sets of used generators from other schools.

He said the school was supposed to get 24 hours of electricity supply from Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd similar to those who live in Pamol area.
