Kuala Lumpur: "Six or seven" Umno leaders are being monitored as they are seen as trying to bad-mouth the party and government, said Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor."If action must be taken against them, we will submit an investigation paper to the Disciplinary Board as we do not have the power to impose any action against them," he told reporters here Monday.

He refused to name the leaders concerned. Tengku Adnan also urged former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad not to meddle in the government's administration of the country.

He said the government did not need outsiders to interfere in every issue relating to the country's administration as it had its own way of dealing with them.

"Dr Mahathir is finished (retired)... enough is enough. Let the government resolve the problems. However, I respect his views.

"I am also aware that Tun Mahathir has now started condemning me and as secretary-general I am only doing my job as best as possible," he said when commenting on the call by Dr Mahathir that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should resign.

Tengku Adnan also urged the public to stop putting new and old leaders at loggerheads because to him, this was not beneficial to any party.

He also said Umno lawyers would be sending a reply note soon to Youth Academy chairman Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who is also an Umno member and former Umno Supreme Council member about a show-cause letter sent to him on Sept 28.

Tengku Adnan sent the show-cause letter concerning Saifuddin's presence at the launching ceremony of the opposition party new coalition, Pakatan Harapan, on Sept 22.

Earlier, Tengku Adnan who is also Federal Territories Minister, accompanied by his deputy , Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, and Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin, attended the launching ceremony and voting session of the Federal Territory Affordable Homes Project at Residensi Kepongmas here.

The first phase of the project which was developed by Syarikat Sinerjuta Sdn Bhd in Kepong offers 1,514 units of affordable homes costing RM188,000 to RM198,000 with a size of 800 square feet, equipped with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and one parking bay.

Tengku Adnan said the current market value of units which were offered at less than RM200,000 was RM235,000 each.

He said 500 qualified for the draw to own the first phase of the apartments which were expected to be completed by 2018. – Bernama
