SINTOK: The Master of Business Administration programme in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has received the accreditation of the Association of MBAs (Amba), joining the likes of similar studies in Cambridge and Oxford. And UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak (pic) is delighted.

"This is indeed a landmark achievement concerning the academic quality that is obtained at UUM, specifically for our MBA programme, which is now unequivocally on par with those of other world-renowned universities," he said, congratulating the staff.

News of the accreditation was conveyed to the university by Katherine O'Flynn, from the secretariat of Amba, which is based in London.

Amba is an impartial international body that provides prestigious accreditation service in an effort to maintain the global standard for all MBA, Doctor of Business Administration and Master of Business and Management programmes.

As at September 2014, 219 graduate business schools in 52 countries had received the Amba accreditation, among which are the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, in Britain.

The Amba accreditation represents the world's highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education.

The MBA programme in UUM is under the auspices of the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business.
