Kuala Lumpur: All racist acts that hurt the feelings of the Chinese must be stopped immediately, says MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.He said the party would convey this to Barisan Nasional Chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He singled out Umno's Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who threatened to "slap" the Chinese who brought their complaints overseas.

"Tajuddin has repeatedly provoked and hurt the feelings of the Chinese and challenged MCA who stands up for the community," he said.

A Chinese daily reported Tajuddin as saying that MCA could "complain till the end of the world". He was responding to calls by MCA leaders for him to aplogise to the Chinese for the "slap" threat.

Last week, Tajuddin said the Chinese should stop dreaming that they have a "godfather" and protector, in a direct reference to China.

"The MCA central committee had discussed the Tajuddin case and was upset over it.

"The party will lodge an official complaint to the Barisan Nasional chairman and Prime Minister to state its stand," Liow said after chairing a central committee meeting at Wisma MCA here Tuesday.

Liow said Tajuddin must be held responsible for his statement and the audio recording of him saying it was evidence that he had caused damage to the harmony of this multi-racial country.

"Barisan Nasional must act to put a stop to such acts. Racial harmony, peace and stability has always been – and will continue to be – the criteria for Barisan's success in governing our country, " Liow said.

Meanwhile, Liow also said let the law take its course with regard to the current issue between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and former MCA President Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik. He, however, declined to comment further on the issue during a media interview at Wisma MCA here on Tuesday.

In a post on his Facebook page, Najib said that he had instructed his lawyers to send a letter of demand to Dr Ling demanding an apology over a recent statement.

Last Saturday Dr Ling had stated that he was in agreement with former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that Najib should step down as Prime Minister.
