Tennis event at Likas Complex on Saturday

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Tennis Association is organising doubles tennis matches between government and commercial sectors in conjunction with the National Sports Day at Likas Sport Complex, Saturday. According to its President, Johnson Koh, the government sector will be captained by tennis coach Abdul Rashid Abdullah while the commercial side will be headed by state player Desmond Guansing.

Players are requested to get in touch with their respective heads for registration or to report to the venue by 7am.

The National Sports Day will be officiated simultaneously in all states and district nationwide where in Sabah it will be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the Likas Sports Complex at 7am where a variety of sports events and exhibitions will be held.

During the programme organising committee meeting recently, State Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said more than 400,000 are expected to turn up for the programme throughout the State where 40,000 are expected in and around Kota Kinabalu alone as the State's celebration host.

Among the highlights in the celebration are the KK City Run 2015, 1Malaysia Drug Free Cycling, aerobics session, football match between Sabah veterans and Sabah artistes, sports expos and exhibition.

Meanwhile, in the recent TM National Junior Tour in Terengganu, Sabah's Nurshaneem Imann Shamsudin won the Under-16 girls' singles title after winning the Sabah leg less than a month ago.
