UFOs seen hovering over Beluran, Jalan Tuaran?

Kota Kinabalu: People woke up on Saturday to two photos on social media of what were purportedly UFOs with captions stating that the object was seen hovering over Beluran and Jalan Tuaran in Kota Kinabalu.Although a doubting Thomas might immediately question the legitimacy of such incredible claim, it did not stop Sabahans from sharing the photos with much enthusiasm, adding their stamps of authority to the story along the way such as the photos were taken by a friend of a friend."Obviously it is a hoax, thanks to the highly creative work of a dedicated Photoshop artist. Who knows what his or her purpose was, maybe to make a name for himself or herself," declared Universiti Malaysia Sabah climatologist Dr Ramzah Dambul.ADVERTISEMENT Ramzah said, however, if the people are insistent that the photos are real, he felt compelled to explain that it is highly improbable for a flat shaped object to be flying so low as seen in the photos.Even if the argument is that the object is extra-terrestrial, he said the human race had gone as far as Mars and had explored the Red Planet but did not see any evidence of lives there."If there is indeed other living creatures, we would have found some sort of evidence by now. Just for the sake of argument, if this object is man-made, originating from earth, it is unheard of because in terms of physics, our technology had not reached that point yet."Even with our latest aerodynamic technology now, it is very hard to lift off the ground. For an object that big, to be flying that low, you must wonder what type of pressure, the physics behind its floating.ADVERTISEMENT "And even if you say this is supernatural, well, I will leave you with your mystical thinking. It is up to you to believe that. But scientifically speaking, this is highly improbable," he said. The climatologist explained that another explanation would be that it was an arcus cloud, a low, horizontal cloud formation, which is usually blamed because of its often fantastic shapes in the heavens.

Ramzah said arcus cloud sometimes form various fanciful forms including what looks like a waterfall, a UFO, or as seen recently over Mount Kinabalu, a fiery cloud."But the photos in question were taken where it is unlikely that arcus cloud can form because this type of cloud usually forms near the ocean where there is a collision of cold and warm air, and not inland as where these photos were claimed to have been taken, namely in Beluran and Tuaran," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

In the meantime, Sabah Meteorological Department Director Malek Tussin laughed off the photos, saying he received both photos on Saturday and even attached a photo of a beautiful digitally-drawn UFO, similar to the 'UFO' seen in the photos."This is a highly creative work of art," he said.
