Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old woman, charged with four counts of cheating people over the purported purchase of Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) homes, was on Thursday charged with another four counts of a similar offence.Nurie Azzarina Noor Abdullah, however, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court to cheating four people of a total RM6,000 by making them believe that she could manage the purchase of houses for them under the PPR in Meruntum and Kepayan.

She allegedly committed the offence at separate locations in Putatan and in Penampang between March 20, 2014 and Dec 12 same year.

On the first count, Nurie is accused of tricking one Siti Julmah Abdul Jalil into giving RM3,000 as down-payment for a house under the PPR in Kepayan.

The other three counts stated that Nurie cheated one Norliza Dumin, one Hairah Robin and one Lorna Aloi of RM1,000 each over the purchasing of houses under PPR in Kg Meruntum, Putatan.

Each offence under Section 420 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between one and 10 years, and whipping and fine, on conviction.

Chief Inspector Lim Swee Beng, prosecuting, proposed bail at RM6,000 but Nurie's counsel Mohd Ari Nadzrah Abd Rahman requested for a lesser amount on the grounds that Nurie had already been charged with four similar counts at another court where she was offered bail at RM1,500 each.

Mohd Ari also applied for Nurie's present cases to be consolidated.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie granted the counsel's application for the cases to be consolidated and fixed Oct 28 for case management.

She offered Nurie bail at RM1,000 in two sureties on each charge.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old single mother also charged with cheating will go on trial on Nov 18.

The court fixed the date for Nurul Emmyliana Azlan, who is accused of cheating one Mohd Rizuan of RM400 by convincing him that she could help arrange for the purchase of a tablet through online website, mudah.com.

Nurul allegedly committed the offence at 1.20pm on May 24, at the CIMB Bank Jalan Sagunting, here.

Abbie ordered Nurul to be remanded further until she could furnish the bail offered to her.
