Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's postal services need a big transformation to remain relevant in supporting the rapid growth in delivery services and e-Commerce.Head of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)'s Postal Affairs and Digital Signature, Mohamed Zaidi Abdul Karim, said the services via post men and post offices had a bigger chance to expand their roles in cyber space.

"We are building strength in cyberspace so that postal services in this domain can be robust," he said.

Mohamed Zaidi said this at a media briefing after an interview with Bernama Radio24 in conjunction with the World Postal Day. He said postal services could also be a strategic network channel to spearhead online business services.

MCMC, as a regulator of postal services in the country, wanted to ensure that they remained relevant in the digital world.

"We want to ensure delivery service of goods extend nationwide, including the interiors of Sabah and Sarawak," he said, adding that this included an inclusive system enabling rural areas folks to do business online. – Bernama

To support this need, Mohamed Zaidi, said Pos Malaysia estimated it would need about 50,000 workers by 2025. – Bernama
