BN capable of rising again: PM

Kuala Lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties must return to the basic principles of its formation and strengthen cooperation between the races to ensure a better future for the country.Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic), who is also the BN Chairman, said the BN formula based on the principles of moderation was the best for Malaysia which had various races, religions and cultures."Ultimately, the major ethnic groups in the country must work together. We cannot do it alone.

"The Malays cannot do it alone, the Chinese cannot do it alone. We must do it together in one political union called Barisan Nasional," he said in his speech at the opening of the 62nd Annual General Assembly of the MCA at Wisma MCA, here, Sunday. He stressed that the BN was capable of rising again, in fact becoming stronger if all party components were united and focused to win the 14th general election.Najib said that as a government and political party, the BN must always listen and be responsive to the needs of the people."Now, let us build on this. We must rise up. If we can stand together, we can do it. We become stronger," he said. The Prime Minister also called on Malaysians to defend the social contract and the Federal Constitution which were the core principles of the country that ensured unity and harmony among the people.

He added that despite the differences between the people, they must be managed and harmonised in line with the Federal Constitution and in the spirit of BN which was built on trust and consensus. "We must remain steadfast to our belief in our social contract and the Federal Constitution," he said.
