style="text-transform: uppercase;">Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Surfing Association is back with its 2nd Borneo Surf Festival to be held on Dec 18 to 20 at the Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai in Sepanggar, near here.With surfing gaining popularity among locals, the association hopes the event will be able to promote surfing as a viable tourism attraction for the State.

"Surfing might be something that is closely associated to places like Bali or Hawaii but you would be surprised to find out that there is a budding surfing community among the locals here in Sabah as well," said a statement.

The event presented by Rip Curl will feature an exciting surf competition consisting three categories namely, Men's Open, Women's Open and Under 16 Open with contestants from around the region.

A new addition to the festival is the Tamu Pantai Bazaar, featuring locally-made handicrafts and products of Sabah.

There will be a stage to showcase local performers throughout the day as well as surf clinics and lessons, free surf movie screening and fun filled activities for the family.
