Kota Kinabalu: Goalkeeper Mohd Fazli Paat confirmed on Friday that he will not be extending his contract with the State football team. The stalwart who hailed from Pekan Nanas, Johor and recently celebrated his 28th birthday, said after two seasons with the Rhinos, he decided not to renew his contract as he wanted to experience playing for other teams before retiring.

"At the moment, there are several teams looking to sign me but there is no confirmation on which team I will sign for until my contract here runs out on Dec 31," he said.

The goalie, who signed for Sabah back in 2014 from Johor FA, said he was lucky to have played for the Rhinos although he was hampered by a long injury setback early in his first season here.

"Even though my first season with the team was hampered by the serious injury picked up during my first official match for the Rhinos, yet I came back strong, thanks to the support given by the coaches and my teammates.

"I am fortunate to have trained and learn from some of the top players here where the experience and knowledge gained during my time in Sabah will surely improve my footballing career," he said.

Towards this end, Fazli thanked the Sabah Football Association (Safa) for giving him the opportunity to play for the team.

"Not forgetting the amazing fans here for supporting me all this while. I will pray that Sabah Rhinos will gain its former glory in the future," he concluded.
