KL-based Borneo Petroleum banking on local expertise

Kota Kinabalu: A Kuala Lumpur-based company with local partners, Borneo Petroleum and Petrochemical is banking on local consultancy expertise to create positive impacts on its current and future projects.Its Group Executive Director Tunku Mu'tasim Tunku Daud said, local expertise is needed in ensuring the smoothness of a project's implementation, after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Borneo Petroleum and Petrochemical and Hijau Petroleum Consultancy, here, on Sunday."Hijau Petroleum will ensure each project will be well-organised and all the needs are provided.

"As a local technical consultant, surely Hijau Petroleum will provide the best to Borneo Petroleum especially in the technical side, plus with the expertise possessed by Hijau Petroleum, it is the right choice for Borneo Petroleum to build a cooperation with," Tunku Mu'tasim said.Tunku Mu'tasim also said, Borneo Petroleum and Petrochemical is aiming to spearhead the oil and gas industrial hub and its exploration.The MoU was signed by Borneo Petroleum and Petrochemical Executive Chairman Datuk Matusin Sunsang and Hijau Petroleum Consultancy Executive Chairman Dr Tan Su Haw. Matusin said, the MoU is not only a precedence for a cooperation between the two companies but also as a motivator to develop the oil and gas industry as the biggest contributor for the economy of Sabah and the country.Meanwhile, Tan said, Hijau Petroleum Consultancy is a 100 percent locally participated company and they have many readily available engineers and experienced workers.

"We are contributing into the local ingredient of moving the oil and gas industry to a higher level. I look forward to work closely with Borneo Petroleum and Petrochemical and to be able to give them all the assistance that they need," Tan said. Tan also said, Sabah has a good reserve of oil and gas which has been explored for quite a number of years and this is the first time a local Sabah company participated in the industry.
