Stanley declared Elite Race winner

Kota Kinabalu: Local ace JR Stanley Jalip has been reinstalled as the rightful winner in the MTB Elite Race at the weekend CAKK Century Race by the organiser, Monday.The former SEA Games athlete who finished with a time of 2:10:00.84 was initially placed second behind Muhd Asyraf Anuar who clocked 2:09:10.71.

He filed an appeal when the result was known as he claimed that Asyraf was never in the leading pact from the start and was surprised to see him crossing the line first.

His claim was supported by third place winner Niklos Minol but their appeal was initially unsuccessful, and both riders refused to take the stage and instead sent representatives to collect the prizes.

In an official statement from the organiser on Monday, they confirmed that the Commissaire had photo evidence to prove that Asyraf had violated the rules at some part of the route and that JR was the rightful winner and Niklos came second with Mohd Faizal Sultan in third.
