Semporna: Five kilos of bombed fish and two explosives were confiscated during a special task operation conducted off the Samar-Samar waters here, on Wednesday. Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Mohamad Madun said the seizure was made after a team stopped a boat for inspection at about 4.30pm.

He said two men on the boat jumped into the sea and fled as the team approached the boat.

"The boat, its engine, several equipment, explosive and fish were all valued at RM4,350," he said.

Several cases of fish-bombing activities have been reported in the State over last year.

Among them was the death of a boy who was killed and four others were injured when a homemade fish bomb exploded in their house at a water village squatter settlement in Kg. Hidayat here, in December last year.

A total of 70kg of suspected bombed fish were also seized in two separate raids off the Singgahmata waters in Semporna.

Fish-bombing activities were also detected in Kota Belud in August, resulting in the arrests of three men.
